Pre-Black Friday Sales

The word "black" in Black Friday refers to the term "in the black" meaning making a profit. Black Friday is the discount shopping day that follows the American Thanksgiving, which is always on a Thursday. I was in retail for a very good chunk of my life, and I don't remember ever using that term. Whatever the term, all it means for us is sales, sales, sales.
