Manolo, Jimmy, Christian, Oh My!

The French shoe designer Christian Louboutin (pronounced Lou-bou-ton), on a whim, painted red nail polish on a pair of shoes that looked "unfinished," and the rest is history. Really made famous -- to me anyway -- by Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, all it took was the mere flash of a crimson sole to tell me it was a creation by none other. Carrie wore Manolos, Jimmy Choos, then came Christian. All are works of art, but undeniably, those sultry red soles are what make Christian Louboutins the most unforgettable of them all.

Being on a budget, it was imperative that I cheat just a little for the sake of having several pairs of shoes for the summer. I found these great sandals that also have red soles. Thank you for the inspiration, Mr. Louboutin. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Another shoe label just not getting the recognition it so much deserves? Betsey Johnson. The variety of soles that she has is so fabulous you'd hate to scuff them up. Her shoes are whimsical, fun and feminine. Sounds a little like a Carrie Bradshaw, no?
